I have an AW7 Titanium and I have a 2 month ordeal going on with Apple. I have this battery drain issue for which their "diagnostics" is saying is "normal" battery behavior. Currently the watch is set up as new with no apps installed except for stock apps and cell is not activated. I do not interact with the watch at all other that allowing the push notifcations to come through. As the images show, I get about 11 hours of battery life. In addition, when the watch is turned off, it's dead in 24 hours. It has come back twice from the repair depot with diagnostic not able to find any issue. The local apple store was able to replicate the battery off drain. Still, apple refuse to honor a warranty claim. Reaching out to the community for help with next steps and to also verify if this is truly a problem or it's something I'm imagining as Apple is insinuating. Battery health is 97% What I believe is going on is there is some kind of parasitic drain or the battery still has capacity but unable hold charge. Both for which their diagnostics is not showing or maybe even able to show? From what I'm told the diagnostics has to indicate a problem for them to take action. Perhaps this is something diagnostics can't catch?

What does the battery health screen on the watch say?

(General -> battery -> battery health)

What does you apps background refresh settings look like?
Also, I have noticed that some apps install themselves, so make sure to remove any unwanted ones.

I have a S7 Ti that I now use for sleep tracking every other day (Ultra is my primary) and battery is around 80% in the morning and I put it back in the charger in the evening at usually around 45%, so nothing unusual

Just checked again. No apps installed. Just the stock ones have refresh enabled.

I know that these are super dumb questions, but they're something to consider:

* Have you reset the watch and phone (both buttons on the watch until the Apple logo comes up)?
* Have you un-paired and re-paired the watch without then restoring the watch from a backup?
* Do you have a case or screen protector on the watch? If so have you tried without them?

That does seem crazy fast.

It might be worth checking that the cellular is turned off too. I don't have cellular so not sure where that is exactly. It should anyway be deactivated since you're connected to your phone (I assume). But if your phone is turned off then it might be doing something funky maybe?

And has this issue occurred since you owned the watch? Or did it start later? Are the phone and watch both running the current OS?

To your bulleted points:

  • Yes, a lot of times. Was done over the troubleshooting with Apple.
  • Yes, currently watch is paired with no apps other than stock and no cell and not restored from backup.
  • No case or screen protector.
This started a few months ago and is progessively getting worse. The phone and the watch are on the latest OS. What's fustrating is Apple diagnostics is unable to find the cause so to them all is working fine despite showing them these screenshots.

I would turn background app refresh off and see how that will work out
But shouldn't it last the roughly 18 hours Apple promises with only stock apps in background refresh? Also, with the watch completely off, it's dead in about 24 hours. Seems to be a parasitic draw or battery not holding charge. Either one is a warranty defect, but Apple diagnostics is saying everything is normal.

Hard to say, if Apple diagnostic doesn’t show a problem. But if you turn background refresh off you have at least another data point.
Also, which app on the phone uses the most battery?
I would try to eliminate apps as a cause…

And if all that doesn’t make a difference, I’d call support (I assume you have a case number) and escalate it

I have talked to 5 different senior advisors. There's pages of notes they have on the issue. I have repeated myself to them numerous times. The senior advisors seem to believe what engineering says is final. It's so fustrating dealing with them if you don't have applecare+. They won't escalate and I don't know who to escalte to. I do have the case number.

You can always send an email to tcook@apple.com, be polite, to the point and state that you’re unhappy with the outcome.

I’d still recommend to turn off background refresh at a minimum to eliminate that possibility.
