Apple Watch series 8 charging

I got an Apple Watch series 8 for Christmas. It has been charging great on the same wireless charger combo I was using for my old watch and AirPods. I did a software update on my watch last night and now it won’t charge on the combo charger. If it was a hardware thing then I don’t understand why it was charging before the update. Thoughts?
