Hello everyone,

While taking off my Apple Watch series 9 SS, I dropped it from around waist height onto the floor. When picking it up I saw no visible damage, but it was restarting. It took a bit longer than usual for it to restart, but once it did, everything seemed to work fine. I've tested the buttons, haptics, speakers, touchscreen, charging etc, and it al worked as expected.

I am curious if anyone else has experienced this before, and what might have caused this restart.

Interesting. Did the watch dropped with the buttons facing the floor?

Was it a hard drop to a hard floor or did it get dropped on a soft surface?

I didn't really see if the watch dropped with the buttons facing the floor, but I picked it up pretty quickly. I read on Apple's support page that a force restart requires holding both side buttons for at least 10 seconds, so I doubt that's what caused the restart. But it's a good point you mentioned.

It was drop onto a hard floor from waist level.

Since the Watch has been perfectly fine, I suspect it might be a safety mechanism in the watch. Maybe when it detects a sudden drop/shock, it restarts?

No way it restarts when it dropped….

Did you pop on the Apple Watch while it was on the charger charging from zero percentage of battery or updating?

No, it wasn't charging or updating around that time. It was in the evening and I was wearing it since waking up in the morning. Battery was around 40-50%. The watch was on the latest version WatchOS 26.0.2.

No, and I never have
Alright bro. Likely this is a software issue.

I have never seen this before so keep me posted if it happens again. I am certain this is a glitch but if I see patterns of this issue I can find out what’s going on with your Apple Watch.

Thanks for spreading the word about it. Have a great weekend
