I have been using the stock Apple Watch Sports Band for about 6 months. As you are aware, when putting on the band, you first secure the pin of the band to one of the holes and then loop the rest of the tongue underneath the other through the gap on the band.

The problem I am having now is that when I try to loop the tongue through the other one, the pin will pop out immediately of the holes before I can fasten the band. I even dropped the watch a few times because of this. Yet, even when I looked at the band closely, none of the holes looked worn out. I can't figure out why I can no longer fasten like I used to before?

Has anyone experienced this odd problem? Is the pin or the hole in the band failing?

0. Sit down somewhere or stand right before the sofa or the bed
1. Loop the tongue through the gap on the band (2-3 cm)
2. press the pin in the hole that fits.

I always do it that way (sometimes without 0.) That way the band already sits tight enough and you can move it forward and backwards to find the hole you need. I have quite some of Apples sports bands, and none of the holes are worn out.

Indeed, I have been taking the same steps as you do now. However, this does not explain why I am unable to put on the band now using the original way I described. Hence, I am indeed wondering if the band's fluoroelastomer had change in flexibility (it got stiffer) or if the holes had been worn out (but subtle enough that I could not seen the wear).
