It's called,

Apple GiveBack
Trade in your Apple Watch and get credit for a new one..
www.apple.com/giveback

This thread is for posting the Apple GiveBack trade-in value for your current Apple Watch.

How much is my old watch worth?
There are three ways to find out..
1. Go to Apple Store and ask an Apple Store specialist
2. Find out right now at the Apple's online GiveBack site
3. Find out while going through the online purchase shopping cart checkout.

For options 2 and 3 you will need your Apple Watch Serial No. (Settings->General->About and scroll way way down).

Overview: There are two options to trade-in your old watch (both through Apple)

Option 1: Buy Online at Apple.com
If you pay full price online you will [later] get the agreed upon trade amount refunded to your payment method, or possibly an Apple Store gift card if you prefer. Just send back the old watch body using the Brightstar kit included with your new watch package.

Option 2: Buy in person at an Apple Retail Store

Present your trade-in watch and an Apple Retail Specialist will make you an offer on the spot. No waiting. Just hand over the watch body to the employee and walk out with a new watch (after paying the difference)
Warning: The amount offered for "GiveBack" at retail may not be the same as you were offered online.

In short:
Do the trade-in at the store if you don't want the hassle of mailing off your old watch and waiting for the credit (or gift card).

or

Do the trade-in at the store if you have a $150 watch on your wrist, you want a $500 Apple Watch 4, and you have only $350 in your pocket.

Share what your Apple Watch Trade is here!
The model number would be helpful also. I got my model# (MQL12LL/A) browsing off of Bestbuy.com
(do not share your Serial #)

I will start...

  • Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS), 42mm Space Gray Aluminum Case with Black Sport Band - Space Gray Aluminum
  • Model: MQL12LL/A
  • No Damages Trade-In Value from Apple Store online: $225
[Max trade-in is $250]

FAQ Questions of the Week:
1. "Do I have to return accessories?"

Answer: No.
According to this article (from reliable website iMore.com)
Note that the only thing you need to send to Brightstar is the Apple Watch body. You can keep any bands or chargers that you have, even if they came with the watch that you're trading in.

I’d like to know what people are seeing for trade in value on a Space black SS sport band model cellular Apple Watch right now?

Just checked for my 40mm space grey series 3 gps with default sports band- $175

Series 2 SS 42mm was $175 the day before the keynote, and I secured the quote.

Now, the same model is $125 via their trade in program.

I'm also $175 for the GPS (Nike) and it was the same announcement day. How did the OP get $225?????? Either it was a few weeks ago or something smells fishy. Here is a copy of mine. OP please post a copy of your receipt.

I can confirm that they gave me the same $225 estimate. I have the space black aluminum 42mm with lte. Maybe the lte is the difference.

FWIW: I was offered $225 for a 42mm SG w/LTE and $225 for a 38mm Silver Nike+ w/LTE on Friday during preorder.

I was offered $125 for Series 2 42mm SS. But seeing I have A-Fib I'm going to keep it and use it when sleeping and monitor my heart rate. I'm 68 and have seen individual spikes of 188, which believe it or not I don't feel. Haven't decided which model 4 I'm going to get. If I go space gray then it will be 44mm because of my watch bands. If I go with gold it will be 40mm with Milanese Loop.

For me, I have had more success selling locally, usually to somebody that’s not aware of the used market and or what to pay, but I also sell my devices almost in mint condition with all the included accessories, etc.

Yep, $125 for S2 SS42. Anyone know what you 'send back' with the watch? Is it just the 'body', like with the phone? I would assume so as new purchaser wouldn't want your used band. Please? :D

Apple watches have been able to detect the main symptom of AFib (high heartrate) for years (since the Series 1 model). Basically you can set the watch to alert you if you have been at rest for 10 minutes and your heart rate is "high" (you can set a value - I use 100bpm, but higher is possible). The instructions in this article:

How to turn on potentially life-saving Elevated Heart Rate notifications on Apple Watch

For performing an EKG/ECG out of a doctor's office, I use an AliveCor KardiaMobile device. It's $90-$100 on Amazon. It is the exact same device as Apple is putting on the new Apple Watch 4 (only larger and must be held tight to your phone for bluetooth connection). In fact AliveCor has a $200 Apple watch wrist band called "KardiaBand" that you can use also.

Everyone is different. Discuss with your Cardiologist. Remember these home ECG devices are "1 channel". They use 12 channels at the hospital (much more accurate). In my case.. my doctor agreed the best route is have my watch monitor for elevated heart rate, then use a 1 channel ECG device (AliveCor or an Apple Watch 4). If I get a positive result ("you may be in AFib") then I am to take a blood thinner medication asap (on my keychain). Unchecked AFib restricts blood flow and can cause a stroke. AFib, btw is when one of the muscles in your heart cannot rest. Impossible to diagnose without an EKG or a damn good doctor with a stethoscope. My $90 KardiaMobile may have saved my life last October -- picking up AFib two days before I was to take my kids on a long trip.
