Hi everyone,
I’d like to ask for your help with the following two questions:
  • What kind of screen protector would you recommend for the Apple Watch Ultra 2?
  • What kind of protective skin would you suggest for the watch? I’m looking for a transparent, easy-to-apply, and durable option.
I know the watch is very rugged, but I still want to make sure it’s protected.
Thank you very much!

Screen protectors are worse than useless for the Ultra.

If anything manages to scratch your Ultra, the damage to the watch will be the least of your worries as you learn to adjust to your new life as an amputee.

No, I’m not exaggerating.

See this from shortly after the original Ultra came out. As you watch, imagine the Ultra is strapped to your wrist as the watch is subjected to the abuse, and ask yourself what would be happening to your arm at the same time:

I pre-ordered my original Ultra and have been wearing it since launch day. I’ve been elbow-deep in the garden in rocky soil digging out Bermuda grass weeds. Countless door knobs, metal chair frames, more. The watch is still pristine.

Cheers,

b&

don’t bother unless you’re working in an industrial or mechanical environment daily . i went that route and found a case and screen protector just enlarged an already large watch so i didn’t bother. im wearing ultra2 natural titanium daily for almost 2 years and not a single mark , scratch anyway putting a clear case it ends up
looking like a condom wrapped around it 😁 seriously don’t waste your time

Everyone here is so quick to judge...

As a fellow U2 wearer I chose to put a screen protector on. Is it needed, probably not but for the cost of it I'd rather have it and not need it than vice versa. I use a Ghost Armor cover. It was $15 and they will replace it at any time with no questions for $5. I've used them since my S7 and been more than happy with them. My wife and son use them on their watches too. 99% of people wouldn't even notice it on my watch.

Can you tell me when you think a screen protector on a sapphire screen would be needed?

If I thought for one second there was something to be gained from it I'd have one on my U2!

I smashed my S0 (all) and the screen shattered, replaced it with S3 (all) and had it for ~ 7 or so months and it had scratches on the screen. Then I had S4 SBSS, S7 Ti, Ultra and Ultra 2 so 6.5 years or so and none of those screens had any mark, all pristine.
I have never put a screen protector on any iPhone, starting with 3GS.

I mean, do what you want with your watch, I do not care.

I speak out of my personal experience with the sapphire screen, I used to mountain bike, I had crashed and generally not gentle at all with my watches. For the Ion-X, well, I have my experience and will never get one of those again.

After all, an AW is a tool, a computer on the wrist that has a finite lifespan, unlike eg a Rolex, a piece of jewelry, and I have never ever heard/read that Rolex wearers put screens on their watches, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I’ve never got the “cases on a watch” thing, but especially on the Ultra.
The thing is built like a tank by design and already huge.
A case just pushes it to “so big it’s uncomfortable” territory and makes a super expensive watch now feel like a plastic or rubber toy.
I feel pretty much exactly the same about shells on MacBooks, especially since I’ve had a plastic shell scratch an MB before, literally the opposite of its job.
