I wish these were (optionally, with a 2nd size) a little smaller and lighter.

I've learned though using fitness watches for a few years now that I'm really sensitive to both of those things, but particularly weight on my wrist.

The normal Apple watches would be fine I suppose, if they had more buttons. I wish Apple would internalize how much more functional it is, during various fitness usages, to have real buttons to interact with.

On my Garmin, I dismiss things and start/stop timers sometimes through my clothes with buttons and certainly when it's damp/wet, it's wonderful to have a button driven interface.

My 1st Gen Ultra is still working fine (which is great: I didn't suspect such long use life)...I'm going to wait for the Apple Watch Studio or Max at this point.

Soon us Mini folks can start clamoring for an Apple Watch Mini!

Looks like I already started (up above) ... it must be built into my firmware.

Mini for all!

wear kids' smartwatches. Problem solved

I empathise with those looking for a smaller device. Recently I shut down my AW and inserted an Oura Ring 4 on my left-hand index finger. I barely notice it's there but the the Ring has exceeded expectations in many ways. It will not suit many but my guess is a significant number of those wearing an AW an Oura Ring would be the better device.

How do you post something like this and not mention where the discount is available?

(Oh, I see they're Amazon links on the site. The RSS feed had them replaced with some opaque click-tracking link instead, which is not cool.)

I have the Ultra 2 and it was not affected by the sensor disabled function. I recently founding a pawn shop an Ultra 2 that was year old for $350.00 I snagged it and resold it to my brother for the same rice I paid for it. For less then half price we both have what we want. Since neither of us use cellular function it is not a big deal it is a great watch and last a long time. Price on the new ones is really amazing with the tariffs going on for everything

My Ultra 2 is still great, but I'm definitely going to remember to wait a month when I get my Ultra 5 in four years.

Not wanting a heavy watch bouncing on your wrist when running does not mean one should get a “kids smartwatch”. I would also like a smaller, lighter and more durable Apple Watch.

I used the Apple Watch Ultra trail running for about a month (borrowed a buddies series 1 ultra), and it bounced around so much that I couldn’t keep a heart rate reading. Had to cinch it down to an uncomfortable point to keep it in place.

Happy with my Garmin 265 now, as well, with actual buttons. I never need or use the touchscreen.

I'm waiting for the folding version!
Not much discount on the natural. I guess the black is not selling that well.
I have an Ultra 2 in black, and that would always be my first choice. But I recently bought a Titanium Ultra 3. I love them both, even though I didn't get a discount on the U3. Oh wait, I did turn in an old AWatch Series 6 who's battery was below 70%...and they gave me $55 off, so there's that.

Did your buddy's Series 1 Ultra have the "continuously adjustable" metal band, or one of the fabric bands? They can be adjusted with much more accuracy than any of the silicone bands with holes in them. You might try that. But I will admit that the Apple-branded bands are a $200 item, so maybe source that from someplace else.

The aluminum series 11 is very thin, and the small size is also very light. It’s easy to dismiss notifications with a twist of your wrist, no button pressing is required… If you’re interested try one for a couple of weeks, if it’s not for you return it at the 2 week mark and Apple will refund you in full. 👍🏻
