Apple yesterday unveiled its all-new Apple Watch Ultra, which the company says is "inspired by explorers and athletes" and "a versatile tool that empowers users to push their boundaries with adventure, endurance, and exploration."

In true Apple style, the company has designed the device's retail packaging in a way that reflects its vision. As shared by 3D artist Ian Zelbo, the box depicts a snowy and sublime mountain vista surrounded by foreboding atmospheric clouds, with the wider landscape overlapping into the inner packaging.

The all-new Apple Watch Ultra is available to pre-order starting now in the U.S., Canada, Australia, France, Germany, India, Japan, the U.K., and more than 40 other countries and regions around the world, with pricing set at $799. Apple Watch Ultra will launch in stores and begin arriving to customers on September 23.

The box looks way wider than the standard Apple Watch boxes. I wonder what they’re gonna fit in it… Isn’t it just the watch, a band and the charger pluck?

If I didn’t recently just get into real watches I think I’d be all over this, just don’t see how I’d fit this into my rotation. My series 6 is collecting dust lol but I’m excited to see these on peoples wrist soon!

Apple: We want to reduce enviromental impact so we will not be offering a charging puck or celephane wrapping on our products.

Also Apple: Here's our new ultra-expensive watch with 30% more paper than what's actually needed.

I wonder if it will have a nicer charge cable, like the new braided lightning cables.

I take it you never owned one of the original Apple watches. Their boxes were much wider than this. They had the watch with bands attached sitting flat in the box. Maybe this one has the watch on one side, the bands on the other side. Size of the box is dictated by the arrangement of the contents, as much as the contents themselves.

High volume product vs much lower volume product.

Mine will arrive September 23 😎 Now that I am retired I spend a lot of time outdoors doing wildlife photography.
Enjoy your new watch and your retirement in the great outdoors. The watch is very expensive, but it is targeted for those that do get out beyond the normal tourist spots and into the wild. What I like most is the "waypoint" feature. That's going to be a huge help regardless of whether you are lost or not... just the fact you can double-check your headings will give you a peace of mind.

On my current watch, I track my walk but if I need to reference back to where I walked from, I have to end the walk, check on the phone, figure out the direction and restart it. Otherwise, I would have to use the find my car feature on my phone.

The battery life is also impressive.

I am getting this watch, too... but it's not in my current budget. Either I will buy it end of this year or may want on the next version.

Happy trails to you! Do you have a travel blog or anything?

I thought it was about principles to reduce waste? In any case, I don't care enough to debate it. I highlighted that Apple like many other companies can be hypocrytes at times.
What is there to debate? Yes, it is about principle to reduce waste which is why Apple has has been completely carbon neutral for more than two years already. The packaging you are talking about is 100% recycled material in addition to the Watch having recycled materials on its own.

You wanna talk about hypocrisy? You just posting some digital clutter in this forum has more negative impact on environment than Apple’s packaging collectively. You realize all this internet activity goes through energy hungry servers, among other aspects of the infrastructure that allows this forum to function. I am not feeling good about myself either for giving in to your nonsense and respond which only contributes to negative impact.

What did you achieve after all besides being that troll guy in public forums? Do tell. Actually, you know what…Don’t tell. You clogged the servers enough already. So just check your own principles first cause Apple being environmentally responsible alone won’t do it. You need to do your part first.

Don't care, getting it anyway
Same, I don't do scuba diving, jogging, or extreme sports but I am getting one anyway. For a start it's nice to finally have a different design, much better battery life, bigger screen and more features.

I've always bought the stainless steel watches and have upgraded every year since the Series 0 so the price is close the same anyway, and as a 7 owner the 8 this year offers absolutely nothing really new, the ultra offers significantly more.
