Anyone have an Ultra and a regular Apple Watch? 2 months ago i got the Ultra but kept my S4 to wear when it was more appropriate. I haven’t worn the S4 once since I’ve bought the Ultra. Not sure I’ll ever wear it again. Anyone else in the same boat?

I was going to buy the ultra but decided on the 8 instead as the ultra is just too damn big. I may buy one used after the new version comes out, but I don't think I would be shelling out for one, even though it does have features for backcountry exploring I would use.

Damn, now I got my self talked into another watch. I only have about 30 now...

I recently went from my AW8 to the Ultra. When I upgrade each year I always send back the previous version as part of the trade in. However, that’s not possible with the 8 as the Apple trade in partners list as far as 7. Therefore, it’s in the cupboard. Too much drama selling it via eBay or whatever and there’s no one who wants the thing so unless someone turns up, it’ll sit there till September or whenever.

The Ultra is not an official Apple Watch model, so it's unclear which specific model you are referring to. However, assuming you are comparing it to the latest Apple Watch Series 7, some of the key differences include a larger display, faster charging, and improved durability.

If you find that the Ultra meets all your needs and preferences, it's understandable that you may not feel the need to wear your older S4 model anymore. However, it's always good to have a backup or alternate option in case your primary device malfunctions or needs to be charged.

Ultimately, the decision to keep or stop using an older Apple Watch model depends on individual preferences and usage patterns.

Wrong. I used to have two Series 5 Watches, both with their own eSIM, both activated.
Maybe he meant using the same cellular plan. I can see why someone might not want to shell out money for 2 cellular plans when you can only use one at a time?

Probably, yeah, but it was ambiguous so I just wanted to make it very clear.

I don‘t do this anymore, either. But if you have two Watches that get equal wrist time and are used to the advantages of having cellular activated, why not?

The extra cost varies from one provider to the next, too. I‘m in Germany and one of the main providers lets you use up to 10 SIMS/eSIM for no extra cost at all! I‘m with another provider who charges 5€/month/SIM, though. But if I wouldn‘t wear the Ultra 95% of the time, I still wouldn‘t hesitate to activate other Watches, as not having cellular is not an option for me.

Don’t let the battery drain completely for the watches in storage. It causes severe damage to the battery.

Same thing, I wear the Ultra during the day and my S6 when sleeping, more comfortable to wear than the Ultra.
I didn't even think about that, I just got the ultra this week and have not even touched my old one. I think I will do that, Ultra all day and old one for sleep tracking. Thanks for idea.

Not sure what you mean here. The Ultra is an official Apple Watch model that came out last year and the latest regular Apple Watch is the series 8. I did see you just joined a couple of weeks ago and this is your first post so you may not 100% know your Apple Watch models. Or maybe you're just trying to be funny?

I keep my S4 on a charger as well even though I haven't worn it since i got my Ultra. That probably isn't good either as it's been sitting on the charger for over a month and will most likely stay there for a while longer. I may end up giving it to my daughter if I haven't worn it in the next couple of months. Giving it to her will probably do more damage to the watch than keeping it off or on the charger.😁
