Apple Watch Unlock - Not on Sierra Now?

I just got a refurb rMPB with Sierra installed. I tried to set up unlocking the computer with my watch - System Prefs says it won't work until I update my Mac. Apparently (according to Apple phone support) it is not possible to set up a new unlock preference for the watch now that High Sierra is out.

Has anyone else had that experience? Thank you in advance.

Not sure why I didn't find this earlier when I searched. Here's the answer from an Apple tech page:

How to set up Auto Unlock

1. Make sure that your Mac and Apple Watch meet the system requirements for this feature:
   • Apple Watch using watchOS 3 or later.
   • Mid-2013 or newer Mac using macOS Sierra or later.
     Using Auto Unlock with Apple Watch Series 3 requires macOS High Sierra.
