Hi Folks. I am trying to determine of an Apple Watch with cellular can send heart alerts back to the paired phone while outside of bluetooth connection to the married iPhone. The scenario is as follows:

Mother has a child that has high risk for cardiac issues. So much so that the pediatrician is prescribing an Apple Watch for monitoring. She will be pairing it to her iPhone. The hope is that the cellular watch could report heart notifications to her phone while he is at school and she is at work, aka outside of bluetooth range.

Does anyone know if that is possible? TIA

I doubt a medical professional can prescribe a non medical device. There are distinct limitations on what Apple claim in terms of the suitability of the device for medical monitoring.

Of course this may vary by country.

Thank you for your reply, however, the Apple Watch is already prescribed. This is a real life scenario that we are looking for a solution to. The Question is outlined below:

The only way I could see this happening would be through Wi-Fi, if both devices were connected to a wi-fi network, and could somehow "talk" to each other. Exactly how/if this could be done I don't know, but perhaps.....

Why, when the title state cellular version.

That said I don't know, except adding numbers to notify in case of 112 alarm.

I dont believe the monitoring will be in real time. Once the watch gets back in range with the phone, it will sync data and the mother can then send to the doctor for review. I don’t think the watch can do what mom is wanting. In case I am wrong, the mother should contact Apple support directly.
