Hey there, I'm an amputee with one arm who has watched from the sidelines since the first watch was introduced and longed for it primarily for all the health stuff. Now that a Series 3 can be had for ~$200, I'm seriously debating getting one to try, again, primarily for health tracking. I'm not concerned about getting it on/off. Anyone out there use this in a similar situation or have any helpful insight?

What kind of health tracking are you interested in? The Series 3 won't have the ECG functionality, but it will have all the typical heart rate monitoring, work out tracking, etc....

The activity tracking that's integrated into the Apple Health app, the rings/challenges for motivation, heart-rate, and possibly some sleep tracking with a 3rd party app. I wouldn't be able to use the EKG functionality on the 4 anyway, so that's why I think the 3 at this price point would be sufficient.

I’ve seen pictures of people wearing the watch on their ankle (most certainly just for the picture) here somewhere. Would this be an option for you? I didn’t try it yet but maybe you could use more of the watch when your able to touch it and use the crown...

... I just tried it and on the I sides of my left ankle I was able to get a heart rate and ecg reading.

Would fall detection be important for you abd if so, could it be functional with one arm? Taft might suggest series 4, depending on answers.

@rgyiv - Thanks for the sub forum link, I'll check it out.

@iPhysicist - I thought of that and was curious if it would work as well and how useful it would be there rather than on a wrist I can't touch. I went ahead and ordered a series 3 to give it a shot. That's one way to find out.

@jaybar - At this point it's not important to me, at least I don't think it is.
