If my phone is in airplane mode, my Apple Watch shows it’s connected to Wi-Fi, but won’t make calls, I can’t check weather, stocks, etc.

It’s supposed to work on Wi-Fi with the phone off. I’ve tried rebooting my Wi-Fi, the Watch, the phone , forgetting the network and re-adding it, etc.

It’s on 9.0.1. Anyone have any suggestions?

Is Bluetooth still on? I’m guessing the watch is still connected with your phone.

Another update, I think you were right. I checked and BT was turned off, but when I actually turned the phone off completely, the Wi-Fi on the watch worked instantly. So, even though it showed BT as off, I’m guessing it was still connected.

Thanks for your help!

I’m glad you got it sorted.

Apple did something weird with the connectivity controls a few years ago. If you turn them off from control center they don’t STAY off. If you do it from settings, they do.
