Hi ,

have anybody got the Apple Wireless Keyboard A1016 working on newer OS (im running macOS Mojave on a MBP13" Early 2015) ??

It doesnt show up at all when opening the Bluetooth List menu BUT what is really interesting is that it shows up on my Ipad 5th Gen though it won't connect , on the iPad I get the error message " This Keyboard is not compatible with this iOS "

Any ideas ? is the keyboard too outdated? (the keyboard is the first gen keyboard from 2003 , it uses four AA battteries) .

Im answering my own question ,
in case you dont have the answer :

1. check the four AA batteries are new, if not , change to a new set of batteries
2. press Space Bar-button of the device you want to pair your mac with , press the Space Bar till you start believe that the end is coming today...
3. the device will show up on the Bluetooth Device list
4. The Mac will ask you to hit combination of numbers and then press Enter on your keyboard.

Works really good.

Also , to the threads that's been having issues with renaming Bluetooth devices (specifically Apple Keyboards) :
1. Enable Root login from Users & GRoups section under SystemPreferences (Google how to)
2. Set password and login as Root without login out your account from the Mac.
3. Once logged in as Root , go to bluetooth menu , and from there you just rename the Bluetooth Keyboard.
4. Switch back to your own account and you'll see the new name (even after reboot).
The only downside with this solutiions is that you can only rename as Root account every time you want to rename the device.
