Apple wireless keyboard behaving strangely

I am having some trouble with my apple wireless keyboard. It seems that the shift key is stuck. I have removed the key and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it.

It is also causing OS X 10.5.8 to behave strangely. Minimizing windows takes a long time and it is also causing Firefox to open each link in a new window where my preferences are set to open links in a new tab.

Is there anything I can do?

do you have sticky keys enabled? This is under universal access -> keyboard in system preferences.

No I don't...that's the first thing that was suggested to me when I went online and it's not enabled. I'm not sure if our office cleaner might have spilled something on it or dropped it or something along those lines. Could that cause this sort of behaviour?
