Fine. Wasn't it like that for the iPhone 5 though at least? (pre-orders starting on the 13th)

Why wouldn't they? If the phone is ready they'll take pre-orders, it's not of their benefit to wait if the phone is done and in stock. We've had more package and product leaks than any previous release. Sorry, but past practice is no longer the method of predicting Apple's future practice.

Well since iOS7 will launch on the 18th.....i think the 5S will go launch on the 20th.
