Apple is developing a new version of the Beats Studio Buds called the Beats Studio Buds+, signs of which were discovered in the iOS 16.4 release candidate today by 9to5Mac.

The Beats Studio Buds+ look similar to the Beats Studio Buds that were initially introduced in 2021. 9to5Mac has suggested that the earbuds will be upgraded to an H1 or W1 chip, but MacRumors has learned that the Beats Studio Buds will continue to feature a Beats chip rather than the H1/W1.

Apple is planning to add improved Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency to the Beats Studio Buds+, which still have some time to go before they see a public launch.

The original Beats Studio Buds were introduced in 2021 and were positioned as a cheaper alternative to the AirPods. The Beats Studio Buds are priced at $150, and the new model is likely to have a similar price tag.

Buds Plus does not sound as good and it is more awkward to say compared to Buds Pro or Buds Max or Buds Ultra.

Too soon after the "s" in the first word you run into the "us" in the second word. This makes it less likely for the "p" or "l" to be distinct enough.

Moreover, if you do not enunciate well enough it can conceivably remind people of "bu**plug."

The one guarantee is that Beats Studio Buds+ will be more expensive!

Odd that they wouldn’t use an H1. The Fits Pro uses it, and simultaneously is marketed to Android users as well with an app to interact with the features of them. Like… do both. It’s possible.

Will the Powerbeats Pro ever get an update?
They need to update them with a better design so they charge in the case and not have all the issues they had. I loved mine until they would only charge half of the time and be dead when I went to use them for a workout.

I've been using them since they were first available to order. One of the few earbuds that actually stay in my ear at the gym and aren't uncomfortable.

I wonder are the Beats Studio Buds using the A3048 code name and its related charging case the A2968 code name? That could indicate that iOS 16.4 RC code is referring specifically to this set of earbuds.

Beats chip? I am sorry this is wrong information. I am not buying it! Whoever told you that is wrong!

I have the current Beats Studio Buds. On their initial launch, the lack of H1/W1 chip was very noticeable relative to using AirPods. However, they have since updated the firmware and they largely act like AirPods now without the H1/W1 chip. There are a few exceptions. For example, when you remove one from an ear, they will not auto pause. However, they support iCloud pairing, so only need to pair them once on one of your apple devices and they show up on the others. Sound quality is much better than my prior 1st gen AirPods. Noise cancellation and transparency modes are nice, but not as good as AirPods Pro. I like the USBC charging since I use them most often with my MacBook Air which is also USBC. The main issue I've had with them is fit - I had to ditch the provided tips for foam ones, adding to the overall cost as they kept falling out of my ears. The foam tips are better but I've still had them fall out, so I hope in an updated version they do something about weight distribution.

Agreed, I have these as well and they are what I typically grab if I'm doing anything where I'm going to be moving, since they stay in my ears unlike the AirPods I have and almost never use. The update they did a few months after their release basically makes the lack of W1/H1 chip a non issue since it does fast switching between devices on the same iCloud device.
