Hi All,

I have been using the native apple 'workout' app on the Apple Watch, and trying to use SIRI, so not have to touch the watch with sweaty muddy hands etc.

When I finish my workout, I'm finding stopping the app and returning to the main watch face quite long winded. Is there a quicker way?!

The most fail safe way I am currently doing this, to close a workout is:
1. End workout - swipe right and select 'end'
2. Workout results - scroll all way to end - then select 'ok'.
3. return to clock - press in the watch scroll button.

Siri does step (1) ok - Saying 'end workout' does step (1) only.
BUT - Is there specific wordings for Siri to do steps (2) and (3) above?

I.E. The issues with not closing down a workout properly:

1. Next time you try starting another workout via SIRI
- New workout will not start
- SIRI returns you to the last work out (Step 2) - where you need to close down the last workout properly.
- Annoying, especially if last workout was hours ago! And you are raring to start your new workout.

2. To find out the time straight away when finish workout:
Siri only does step (1) ok
- I then have the steps (2) and (3) to do, to simply get back to the watch face to find out the time etc!

Hope you can advise.
Martin

EDIT:
More details added - why want use SIRI only etc.

The step 2 is facultative. Even if you don’t click on "ok" the data is already saved on your AW. So you can stop a training and directly return to the watch face. I’m not aware of a faster way to do so

Hi Guys,

Been experimenting and testing. Using SIRI gets me most of the way back, but there is a 2min, delay before get back to "Home Screen" aka the watch face.

The below means no pressing of the Digital Crown - E.g. If done messy activity and hands are all mucky or sandy.

SIRI commands used:
1. Start Palates
2. End workout
3. Workout done

Word commands (3) - Takes me to the "activity" summary screen...
> Then give it 2mins or whatever your settings are... and it will eventually return to the watch face. (The zero minute setting is rubbish if you want to be glancing at your watch stats as you are doing your workout et cetera.)

> Only caveat is - when you next do a workout, will need to use SIRI command again to get straight into the new activity. If you press the app, then it will bring you back to the last "workout" summary - and you will need to manually finish off all the steps for the last workout, before starting your new workout!

Bit rubbish that cannot return to clock face straight away without touching the watch though. Seriously?!

Hope that helps
Martin

I use map my run and when I finish a workout I hit end workout then press the digital crown and I'm instantly on the clock face/main screen. Takes a few seconds.. I never have used the native workout app as if looks clunky and nowhere near the control or functionality of some of the 3rd party offerings

Hiya B,

yup certainly does only take a second.

I was talking about times though - where one's hands a filthy, and certainly do not want to be touching such a sensitive part of the watch - with it's heartbeat reading sensor etc.

Filthy hands - woodlands running; Fell over and mud all over hands, or climbing over mucky fences etc. OR on beach etc.

cheers

Hi all,

This Niggle is now low low priority :)

I have moved onto interval training now, running on roads and not woodlands etc. now - So mucky hands are not really an issue at present.

The most efficient way to close the workouts now for me, is to end up with the below screen on the watch:

To get into and close the apple workout - I say the following SIRI commands:

SIRI commands:
1. Hey Siri, Start outdoor running
2. Hey Siri, End workout
3. Hey Siri, Close workout

This takes me to the ACTIVITY summary on the watch, as per screenshot above.

To get the same screenshot data above:
1. I found that if you scroll down on this summary, where you leave the screen, is the place the Apple Watch will show, the next time you return to the ACTIVITY summary on the watch.
2. So when you are next on this screen, go to the section you want displayed each time!

Hope the above helps :)

Hi All,

Winter is coming.....Getting muddy out there again :)
Back onto avoiding touching watch with mucky hands

I had to come back to this post from ages back to remind me of the SIRI commands to use.
Not intuitive, but they still work with all watchOS updates since etc.

Best wishes
Martin

My memory job:

To get into and close the Apple Watch workout - I say the following SIRI commands:

SIRI commands:
1. Hey Siri, Start outdoor running
2. Hey Siri, End workout
3. Hey Siri, Close workout

The most fail safe way I am currently doing this, to close a workout is:
1. End workout - swipe right and select 'end'
2. Workout results - scroll all way to end - then select 'ok'.
3. return to clock - press in the watch scroll button.
I normally do 1. then double click the crown to go back to watch face. That’s all.
