Hard to show what my eyes see on the photo but I think this picture shows the contrast the best.

Black Outside
Gray Inside
Black Buttons

Seems like Apple used the charcoal gray inside for the black folio. Looks different than the website. Much like the olive sport loop last year.

I kind of like it. I had the black folio for my X last year and the black inside showed a lot of dust. I already sold it so I can’t take a side by side picture.

Anyone else see this?

Definitely looks gray to me; doesn’t look bad but it’s not black all around.

Can you post of photo of the packaging. I'd like to see if it says iPhone XS only. Thanks!

The black leather folio that I got for my X last year also has a dark gray interior - but not as pronounced as the one pictured above. All of the Apple leather folios have slightly lighter interior tones in contrast to their outer leather colors. My Xs Max folio should be arriving today, so I will see if the interior is a bit lighter in grey this year versus last year's.

I just opened my black Apple Leather Xs Max Folio and the interior is indeed a bit lighter gray that my current iPhone X folio - and I think it looks better this way. The slight two-tone leather on the all the folios are intentional and a nice subtle design touch. I wish that Apple would've used this lighter color leather for the Apple logo to create a nice contrast on the back of the case.

One change that I am not a fan of (over last year's model for the X) is the inner flap design. The two stitches to keep your debit card in a safe magnet free zone were better placed a bit more to the left versus how they are positioned now. It was easier to fish the card into place effortlessly since there was more wiggle room to position the card. Now you need to aim in-between the stitches a bit too soon while putting the card away quickly.

I also prefer the cards to be completely covered to keep the display free of marks - as they were in last year's design. It also looked nicer when the flap was open and all you can see is the interior leather, no cards showing. Now the front card pocket leaves the card exposed. These tweaks by Apple are a bit backwards in my opinion.

I’ve decided mine is going back. The design on the inner flap just is not good enough for the $129 + tax price point. I talked myself into buying it again but I’ve come to my senses this time. I will keep looking for a folio solution. I really wanted to like it.
