Applecare and Ebay

I bought a new Macbook Pro on Ebay and was wondering if the warranty automatically carries over to me or if there is something I have to do. Also, since I did not buy it from Apple can I still buy Applecare for it? Is there anyway to check when my warranty will expire? Thanks!
