I think my phone got a brief immersion (lower end only) a few weeks ago and along with a sticky home button, it appears to be getting increasingly "eccentric" during use. Increasing number of crashes and odd behaviour which, while not terminal, are getting annoying.

I bought AppleCare so am wondering what they usually do in these cases at the Genius Bar? Small charge for replacement with a refurb? Full charge?

There's no minor water damage charge or small charge.
It either has water damage and in that case its a $199 fee or it doesnt and its free.
But give it a shot, sometimes they let people slide and replace them for free anyway.
