I was almost ready to get a refurb MBP today, as it was within my budget.
I'd heard there was an offer for students' AppleCare where it's being offered for £58 rather than £279. Apparently this only applies to brand new products, so if I'd bought the refurb I'd have had to pay full price for the AppleCare :/
It now works out cheaper for me to buy a new machine just for the guarantee...
Higher Education purchases offer 3 years of return-to-base-support regardless, so I'd be paying for the privilege of bringing it in to an Apple Store and the extended tech support, hrmm.
