AppleCare+

Every iPhone comes with one year of hardware repair coverage and 90 days of telephone technical support. AppleCare+ for iPhone extends repair coverage and technical support to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone and adds coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage due to handling, each subject to a $49 service fee.1 With AppleCare+ for iPhone, Apple experts can help troubleshoot issues over the phone or at an Apple Retail Store. They’ll answer questions about iOS, Apple iPhone apps such as Mail, iMessage, and Calendar, and help you solve interconnectivity issues between your iPhone and Mac or PC. And if your iPhone needs service under the plan, Apple technical support representatives can even set up a repair during the same call.

So it's really $150 and you may not even need it.

I'd rather take my chances and pay the $199 if I have to.

It's $49 PER Accidental Damage...up to two on one device. So pay $50 each time you crack a screen. Then it would be the normal $199 for a replacement phone....

I wonder if they would allow you to change to the "new" iphone.

So at the end of the year, "Ooops, i dropped my iphone. Apple+ please replace it with the new one!"

The other way to look at it is you get 2 damage replacements for the cost of one without.

If you are accident prone it could be a good deal if you plan on keeping the phone for the full 3 years.

Whenever you break your iPhone you buy this :D

It's a great deal IMO, especially for people like me

My 3GS crapped out after a year and a half and I had to use a crappy droid smart phone to keep my unlimited data plan. Wish I had Apple Care. I see how it's worth it now, but when I get it on the new phone, I bet I won't even need to use it.

It covers two years from date of purchase, not three.

Whether it's worth it or not depends on the individual and the likelihood of accidental damage.

Compare to AT&T at $8/month plus $199 deductible per incident.

One difference being that I think AT&T covers lost/stolen where Apple doesn't.
