Applecare Electronic Registration

I am looking at bidding for iMac Applecare. However this sale is different from the standard software box shipped in that it states electronic submission. I have to send them my iMac info. Is this legit? Seller has 551 feedback with 97% positive.

Elecronic registration isn't weird, per se, since even with a boxed copy you have the option of registering online... which I find a bit odd is that they want your serial number, and will enter the registration themselves.

Why can't they just give you the AppleCare number and have you do the registration?

Maybe it's a scam, maybe it's a stolen number - either way, I'd look for a different auction.
