Not sure if anyone noticed this. I was just looking into the option of getting AppleCare+ for my Apple Watch Sport and I noticed on Apple Online Store there're these AW+iPhone AppleCare+ combos listed. The price is basically just the combination of individual AW AppleCare+ and iPhone AppleCare+. But there's something interesting in the notes:

AppleCare+ for Apple Watch Sport and iPhone is only available when you purchase a new Apple Watch Sport from an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store in the United States. Your iPhone must be undamaged and less than six months old to be eligible for coverage.

And looks like you need to add your iPhone to AppleCare+ separately by yourself:
Important notes
Instructions on how to add your iPhone serial number to your AppleCare+ agreement will be provided via email when your Apple Watch Sport ships. You must add your iPhone to your agreement within 60 days of purchasing AppleCare+ for Apple Watch Sport and iPhone.

This information is also listed in the AW only AppleCare+ pages:
If you do not already have AppleCare+ for your iPhone, you can also get coverage for both your Apple Watch Sport and iPhone for up to two years from your Apple Watch Sport purchase date. AppleCare+ for Apple Watch Sport and iPhone is only available when you purchase a new Apple Watch Sport from an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store in the United States. Your iPhone must be undamaged and less than six months old to be eligible for coverage.

So this basically gives some folks a second chance of getting AppleCare+ for their iPhone.
Now I am thinking again if I want to also add AppleCare+ for my iPhone 6 which was purchased back in December. What do you guys think?

Here are the links for all three watch versions:

It has been discussed here before in another thread. It was announced before the :apple:Watch was released and there was an article about it on the main news page of this site at the time. It's not really a savings as such but does allow those who own iPhones but didn't take out AppleCare Plus on them to get it along with the :apple:watch one when buying the watch.

it cost a $1 more actually,

iphone applecare+ $99, SS applecare+ $69 = $168. I saved a dollar :)

as the user above said, it gives you a second chance though.
