I have a MacBook Air that is still under the standard 1-year warranty for a few more weeks. Can I take it to a local Apple Store for them to inspect and then still add AppleCare for years 2 and 3? Thanks.

Good find! I stand corrected.
It's definitely kinda hidden as when I go to settings on my iPad mini it tells you the 60 days thing. But going off that thread yeah, seems if you go in store people have managed to get it after an inspection

Yep, I had to take it to the Apple Store, despite not being able to add AppleCare after 60 days. AppleCare support was clueless when I called them about the new extension.
