When you add Applecare+ to an Edition watch (or any product maybe) and you order online from Apple - what should the start/end date be for your coverage?

Should it be:

The day you order the product online?
The day it arrives at your house?
The day it is scheduled to arrive at your house?
Some random day in between?

I ordered an Edition watch with Applecare+ on May 7.
My Apple Order page says it will arrive on May 20.
My UPS tracking page says it will arrive on May 19.
I received an email a few days ago saying the end date of my Applecare+ coverage is May 15, 2023.

While it's only a few days I'm just curious how Apple chose that end date for the coverage when I won't even have the product then, which will give me less than 3 years coverage? Or - do they count the time it is with UPS as being mine? At this point, it's still in Korea per UPS.

I'm used to walking into the store, buying the product and have Applecare start that day - when it's in my hands.

Thanks for your insight.

Hi there,

If your coverage starts on 5/19/20 and ends on 5/15/2023, you’d be three days short of full three year coverage. I do not know why you would be “losing“ three days of coverage. Maybe since we had a leap day (2/29) this year, there is a glitch in the system (next three years Feb will be 28 days, and thus, a three day “loss”.)

I would wait until you get your Apple Watch delivered and the expiration date may change once you activate your device.
You can also always contact Apple Care and see if they can give you a better explanation once you have your device in your hands.

Hope it helps!
