Applecare+ in UK

Quick query.

I know that people with US iPhones with Applecare+ on them can get their phones serviced in the UK.

But can you register Applecare+ bought in the US to a UK device?

I know the Ts and Cs say it is valid in US only but since applecare+ covered devices can be serviced in UK, what do you think about actually buying it for a UK device.

I have come up empty after quite a bit of research. Anyone Know?

If you do know, please say how as I don't want to spend $99 on a risk.
