I brought the MBP to the Genius Bar today and had it checked out. Turns out the screen blockiness/staggered text that I detailed in this post (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/530345/) is an issue. Since I didn't back up all my files, and wanted to get your guys feedback, I took my MBP back home. Since this is a custom configured laptop, I couldn't just swap it at the Apple Store, and I am really left with two choices.
1. Drop it off, and get it repaired by Apple. Takes 3-5 days.
2. Deal with AppleCare and send it in for a brand new unit. The guys at the Genius Bar says that this usually takes 2-3 weeks. Is this legitimate? why does it take so long? If an employee has already verified an issue, shouldn't I just be able to keep the laptop until a new custom configured one comes in and just swap it out at that time?
I just got this MBP 2-3 weeks ago, really upsets me that I may be without a laptop for sometime. What would you guys recommend? Thanks
Jared
