I just bought a new macbook on ebay that came with apple care warranty. How can I verify that it has apple care? Do I plug in my serial number somewhere?

Call AppleCare and ask them if AppleCare is enrolled to your computer. Alternatively you can go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/Agreements.do. You will need an AppleID.
