I imagine it is still $50 for your current phone. Future phones will see the price hike though.

This better only be for new purchases of AppleCare+... All existing users should follow the previous pricing plans.

Correct....my actual agreement still states $49 for each accidental damage.

I was more just noting that Apple is raising the rates for new customers.

Which seems stupid to me.

Well that just makes a bad deal worse.

Yep.

I get Apple's thinking though: if customers are that stupid to buy applecare to begin with, why not ask them for more money as they obviously don't care about cost vs value to begin with?

Check your local bestbuy for geeksquad protection. They have unlimited replacements! And there's no fee for replacement. That's what I'm doing next time.

Does one have to buy a phone through bestbuy or can you take in your current phone that was purchased elsewhere ?.
Thanks

Or because many customers were using their applecare + on simple things, and Apple got tired of it, and now jacking up the price

Def true.

There is a selfish type of consumer out there, one that ruins good things for everyone else.

If an Out of Warranty repair costs $229, while an AppleCare+ repair costs $99+$79 deductible, what's the benefit? You save $40 in the event something happens to your phone, or you lose $99 if nothing happens/breaks.

I'd rather just take the risk of no AppleCare+.

This makes no sense. How can you use your Applecare on simple things?

Good example: old phone has a small scuff, shady consumer purposely breaks phone, shady consumer gets a refurb, shady consumer sells refurb on CL/eBay scuff free, for massive profit.

But these CL people got it as a gift and they already bought one so they don't need two. Why would an anynomous person on the internet lie to me?

After paying the apple care fee the difference would not really be that much.

Howvever that "shady customer" has already paid $99 for Applecare to begin with and then another $50 to get that small scuff replaced. So Apple has taken in $150. I don't see the issue at all.

Does the iPhone 5 have the same amount of RAM as the 16gb, 32gb versions?

I know RAM is used for many of the jailbreak tweaks right?

Currently, I have 32GB 5 but I want to upgrade to a 16GB iPhone 5S.

So the 5S 16GB and 32GB should have the same RAM right?

Correct. It should have 1GB... but what is this question doing in an Applecare Price Increase thread?
