Applecare protection for ipod

I'm about to make my first ipod purchase and buy a 6Gb ipod mini.
Do you guys recommend paying the extra $59.00 for the AppleCare protection plan? That would bring my total to over $300.00 .

Depends on your personal ratio of money to risk-averseness. I bought my 3G 30 gig last April and did not get Applecare and I've had no problems. The vast majority of owners have not had problems. Personally I wouldn't do it.

From my experience, the battery in the iPod is going to be bad enough after 23 months that Apple will replace it, if you have Applecare. For that reason, I am considering Applecare for my iPod.
