If things don't work out with my 16" (hopefully arriving today) then I'll likely pick up a secondhand 2019 15". Keen to get one with 3yrs AC+ already in place, but if not then I'll invest in some kind of official cover.

Apple UK seems to imply plans are not available after 60 days. Their online sales team were unsure and suggested I call AC number. So I did - and was told I can buy AC Protection Plan at any time after 60 days but before end of original 1 year AC. Seems to cover pretty much everything except accidental damage - fair enough. They even sent me a link to place an order within 7 days. Cool. But when using the official URL it seems to offer only AC+ which means every serial number gets declined. Odd.

Does this mean we (in the UK at least) can definitely buy AC PP after 60 days so long as we call up to order? I can't find anything specific online.

Cheers

What does AC (non-plus) give you that you don't already have with UK consumer law?

I wouldn't want to rely on the UK Consumer Law TBH. From what I've gleaned over the years, one has to prove the fault was inherent during the original warranty period for a start. Might be different with better known issues like the keyboard for example. Seems to really side with the manuf/retailer far more than the consumer.

Burden of proof hassle - usually Apple have a process where they will honour a repair if you complained/cited the relevant laws etc - but some people don’t like confrontation or the extended time such a repair might take unfortunately.

I asked in the apple store in Newcastle about this, they say apple care non plus is no longer available in the UK, online chatted with apple and they confirmed this - not sure it is true, but no one seems to be able to buy it
