I just purchased a Macbook Pro and love it, but was considering the applecare down the road. What all does this cover? I looked online on the apple store and was a little confused. I just want to make sure everything under the hood of my macbook is covered.

Applecare covers all manufactured defects, just like the standard warranty. The only difference is that the standard warranty expires in 1 year and apple care extends that by 2 years, giving you a total of 3.
Also it extends the free phone coverage when calling from 90 days till (I think) the full warranty period.
