could i buy an applecare for my macbook from the states even if i'm currently living in australia? I'm originally from the states and might go back eventually. I have a US itunes account and all my credit cards are from the states.

Yes - Best would be to purchase from B&H Video (a lot cheaper and no tax) if you have some family in the US that can receive the package and they would give you serial # to register.

AppleCare is international.

I work in Eastern Europe and have bought applecare twice from laptopsdirect.co.uk and have had my laptop and imac repaired, even though there are only authorised resellers here, not apple stores. It was cheaper through them, and has paid for itself twice over.
