I have an old 5s with Applecare+ that runs out in october. The phone has been unused since i got my iPhone 6 and i thought of giving it to my dad after getting it replaced. None of the incidents have been used,so how do i get the guys at apple to replace it?

Is it damaged? They won't just replace it for no reason. If the screen is cracked, etc just take it to the apple store. You will pay your deductible and get a new phone.

No damage whatsoever. I can damage it if thats the case :p Deductible is not an issue, i haven't utilised the Applecare even once so yea.

Nice piece of fraud right there.

You're part of the reason Applecare has increased in price, so well done you.

If it's completely undamaged, why are you wanting to pay for a replacement?

They really hurt themselves with these new prices. It makes applecare+ a really hard sell now.

It wouldn't be if people didn't make fraudulent claims, which in turn drives the prices up for others.

Still, as long as the OP is ok right...?

The 100% blame this price hike on the new screen technology. I also think apple is guilty on causing a price hike. I have had 3 phones replaced over the years for damage, and they never once made me pay the deductible.

Nothing to do with fraudulent claims then?

Righty ho...

They won't replace without some kind of damage and your replacement will be a refurb. My iP6 already had shoddy speakers but sim card reader was damaged and they swapped out. I did not have to pay the deductible but the phone was busted.

I disagree with the OP's thinking. If that was me, I'd hand the 5s to my pop, take the AppleCare hit and let dad enjoy a basically brand new phone.
