Hi All -

I am selling my Macbook Pro and it still has 1 year left on Applecare. Do I have to do anything to transfer it over to the new owner?

Thanks!

Actually, that's not quite true. The AppleCare Protection Plan is transferable, but you have to contact Apple about doing it. You can check out how to do it in the Terms & Conditions of the contract.

It is not simply linked to the serial number.

You're both right and wrong.

It's linked to the serial number, but you have to call to transfer it to the computer's new owner.

That is what the terms and conditions say - but in reality it is linked to the serial number as eman says.

If you are selling it, with the AppleCare, then by all means send the letter to Apple and give them the details of the new owner....

Both answers are correct !!
