AppleCare+ Start Date

Hello,

When does AppleCare+ officially start:

1: When the phone was originally purchased
2: When phone is actually activated
3: When AppleCare+ was purchased

Example:
Phone purchased November 1st.
AppleCare+ Purchased on November 25th
Phone will be activated December 25th

I know it can be confusing but it goes by original purchase of device date. I've purchased after the device and it's made no difference
