In Safari, I was at the Macworld freebies page and the cursor wouldn't let me touch anything on the page. Every time I clicked, left or right, that menu would pop up, asking if I wanted to open the image in a new window. Other choices were available, clicking on the icon wasn't one of them.
So, I went to the Tech Tool Deluxe cd that came with the applecare-red box. I opened the program, which I'd installed before, and did an evaluation, and got a pass on everything but the two categories it skipped. So, I figured I'd use the cd to optimize the disc and repair any problems (but there weren't any; if so, why was Safari acting up?).
I put the Tech Tool cd into the cd bay, did a restart, and as soon as the screen went black, I held down the "c" key. The chime occurred, and I held it until the computer tried to boot from the disc. Tried is the key word here.
All I got was a grey screen with a message in the center that told me I had to restart the computer, but before I could read the message, a list of programmer's code scrolled by on the left of the screen, highlighted, white text with a black ribbon of selection, which obliterated the instructions of HOW to restart the machine, to satisfy the disc's demands.
I'm supposed to be able to boot from that disc and do repairs. I think.
So, what's the problem?
Ron.
