I purchased a new iPad Air in April 2025 through Verizon when they were having a promotion, $320 off, I believe. You had to sign up for their payment plan where the discount is split up monthly. When I signed up for AppleCare+, there was no theft and loss option. I assumed that option wasn’t available for iPads, but when I looked into AppleCare One the other day, I saw that it was. I tried to manage the AppleCare+ subscription and change it, but I did not have that option. Should I have been able to sign up for AppleCare+ with theft and loss when I originally signed up? Should I be able to change it now? Is it possible I didn’t have the option because the iPad was being paid for as part of a payment plan through a carrier?

If I switch to AppleCare One to cover the iPad and my iPhone, both would supposedly be covered for theft and loss. Might that not be true since I couldn’t select the theft and loss option when I signed up for AppleCare+ on the iPad?

Theft and Loss was only available for iPhones previously. The theft and loss option for iPad is new.

It’s called Apple One it’s a monthly subscription and you can add up to 3 devices to it for the most monthly subscription ($19). You can add more than 3 for an additional charge. I think for $4.99 to $5.99. You can renew (it’s automatic) it every year for as long as you wasn’t. It includes theft, loss, pysical damage, and priority access for service. You can upgrade your current applecare+ with a refund of any balance on your plan. You can access the plan via the Apple Store.
