Hello!

I’m thinking of buying AC+ for my new iPhone. First of all, for anyone who has actually placed a claim, was it a smooth process or did you get like interrogated from AIG? How many days does it get for the claim to be approved and the iPhone to be shipped?

Also, can someone screenshot the claim process from the Apple website for both events of loss and theft? (of course with hiding all their personal information)

It would be really helpful for me to make my final decision.

Thank you all in advance!

The request sounds reasonable. I just have the standard AC without the theft or loss protection, but if I had opted for that, I would have been genuinely curious what that process was like to file a claim. For some people, the phone is very much a large part of their lives so it would be nice to know that in the event the unthinkable happens where you lose your phone or it's stolen(events that are not too uncommon), that it won't take something like an act of congress just to get a replacement.

I'm also curious to know what the process is though I already purchased Apple Care with theft and loss when the 14 Pro launched and figured I'll deal with whatever the process is if I ever need to. All I know is that I'm not covered outside the US.

Well, yeah. I guess that is a valid reason. Just too used to people receiving returned phones from stuff like eBay...
so I wanted to make sure one of those doesn't happen again. But people can be overcautious, so this time I am that person.

AppleCare Theft and Loss, if purchased after a certain date (I believe September 2020) is processed through AIG (a foreign company that will permanently disable your phone if you click "file a claim", even if you click it by mistake and hit the back button). After AIG locks your phone, there appears to be nothing that anyone at Apple support can do to help. I've had to use my old android from years ago since they have disabled my iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Bump
I would like to ask the same question as I am debating whether to get mobile insurance from my bank or go with Apple & AIG...

Whatever you do, do NOT use AIG. I wish I had gotten my insurance through ATT like I normally do
I am in the UK and Apple Care Plus Theft coverage is with AIG for theft. Non theft issues is with Apple directly I think. You can't avoid AIG unfortunately unless you with a completely different insurance provider...
