Hey folks,

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro (2018) and decided yesterday to purchase the AppleCare cover. I was only offered AppleCare+ which I understood offers accidental damage cover. I had in the past purchased AppleCare cover for my 2015 MacBook Pro which only extended the warranty and didn't offer any accidental damage cover...

Anyway, I just got my policy documents and it looks like AppleCare+ doesn't cover devices that develop a fault? I'm still only covered for the one year via the manufacturers warranty. After that, I'm on my own?

Is this correct? If it is, I have 30 days to cancel and get a refund.

"AppleCare+ does not cover You for loss or theft of Your device, or for failure due to defects in Your device, although such failures will be covered separately either by Your rights under consumer law or the Apple Limited Warranty, or by Apple itself during the same period as the AppleCare+"

If purchased direct from Apple in UK, general defects should be arguably covered by consumer law with or without Applecare, but definitely with Applecare for its period.

I gave Apple a call and they confirmed that AppleCare+ does cover general defects as well as accidental damage for a period of three years. Obviously the first year would fall under the standard 12 month warranty for general defects and so the other two would fall under AppleCare+.
