Which have you guys went for? I was advised to go for carrier insurance as they offer next day replacements, wheras slightly cheaper 3rd parties can give you a bit of hassle and take longer sorting out the paperwork.

Was eyeing up AppleCare+, it looks really cheap compared to my carrier's insurance which is £6 a month. Applecare+ is about £80 for 2 years.

(Usually I don't bother, but I wrecked my iPhone 4 on a trail last month so it's on my mind a bit.)

I have both. Yeah, I know it's crazy but I'd rather have the peace of mind offered by having both. With AT&T, I have loss/theft protection ($6.99/mo) and with AC+, I have the convenience of going to an Apple Store and have on-the-spot replacement.

Just depends if you plan on losing your phone or having it stolen. That's the only reason to go for carrier insurance vs AppleCare+/Squaretrade (better value imo).

Haven't had a phone stolen since I moved out of London :D

So yeah, I'm not seeing things wrong, Applecare+ definitely is the goto option for damage (water damage is my main concern).

So you are basically paying out $267 ($7 x 24 months + $99) in insurance over two years if nothing goes wrong?

Peace of mind sure can be expensive! ;)

That sucks....the words of my dude Chris Rock:

Instead of insurance, We should call it "in case ish" I give a company some money, in case ish happens. Now, if ish doesnt happen, shouldn't i get my money back!?!?

I have always added a rider to my homeowners for the phones to cover loss or theft, it really is not that exp.

I did get applecare on my 5 because I had decided to carry it with no case, worked out well I was able to get a replacement when my kid dropped it.

Im on the same boat as you. I have applcare+ so that way if I break my phone I can go get a replacement for 80 bucks instead of 200, but if my phone is ever lost/stolen I get a 850-1000 phone for a 200 deductible. Its a great time to be in the insurance business.

Wondering about this as well.. thought there would be more people taking Applecare+

I save $100 in a saving account instead. I have $700 fund now (iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 6). It's cheaper than AppleCare/+. I also use Amex just in case.
