I want to buy a new $1300 iMac and i'm thinking about warranties.
What is the difference between the applecare for imac ($199) and the squaretrade warranty coverage for iMac ($179) ?

What does it/does it not cover?
Which one is best?
Any other tips?

Thanks!

AppleCare is the best choice. Amazon has it for $169. With educational discount you can get as low as $119.

What country are you in? In the US, AppleCare for iMac is $169, not $199.

AppleCare includes tech support as well as warranty extension. I think Squaretrade is only warranty.

As for what each covers, you need to read the fine print to get a precise answer.
