AppleCare+ with foreign purchased 4s

Has anyone tried to add AppleCare+ to a factory unlocked 4s purchased overseas?

I called the 1-800-My-Apple number and the person seemed to think it woud be ok.

Just wanted to check whether anyone here has tried?
