I have a question about AppleCare that I can't really find an answer to. Maybe you guys can help.

If I purchase a Powerbook from a friend of mine that is still under the first year of warranty, can I buy AppleCare for it under my name? I don't know why it wouldn't be possible, but you know Apple.

yes you can. have your friend call apple care (1.800.APL.CARE) and send him a card - on this card he'll put the serial number, his name, and your name and address, and send it back to apple. this informs apple that there's a new owner. you will be able to buy apple care at that point.
