Hey guys. Should I get AppleCare. I really can't afford it. Is it a must??

I got it. Last year I went with Verizon's insurance. $10 a month and $170 to replace when I smashed the screen a month ago. AppleCare is $99 for 2 years and $79 to fix/replace. However, it doesn't cover loss / theft like Verizon's insurance does. So I just don't plan to lose my phone. Its up to you. I think you have 30 days to decide after buying the phone. you just have to take it to an Apple store I think.

Never had with any of my phone but then I do not drop them.

It is insurance and is worthless if not needed and valuble if you do!

Only YOU can make those choices.

I have saved enough money by not buying Applecare so I could replace several iPhones. No mattger what I am ahead!

I know I know. I guess I'm just scared of a freak accident

Yeah but you'll be able to get the glass replaced for something like $100 if you break it. Applecare Plus is $99 plus $79 for each incident. Just go without it. Especially if you can't afford it.

All I can say is that for the last two phones I used my AppleCare on both. My 4 had battery charging issues. My five began having goofy lockups and reboots two weeks ago. Apple replaced both phones.

But those would be covered for free with Apple's limited one year warranty. You don't have to purchase Applecare Plus for that.

I keep seeing this, but no one knows yet what repair costs will be for the i6/+, or even if Apple will offer repairs to begin with.

They may just offer a refurb unit for $400, nobody knows!

I don't think assuming the costs will be in the same ball park as the 5S is a good idea and so the cost of AppleCare + is a definite no brainer IMO.

Costs are online here: https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/screen-damage/

$109 for iPhone 6
$129 for iPhone 6 Plus.

Good info thanks.

In the UK it's £86.44 for a replacement screen on a 6 and £99.44 for a 6 Plus.

What about if you drop it in water though?

It's still more expensive for 1 screen repair than AppleCare +, that would give you another screen repair and a 2nd year's warranty.

[Edit] - Found it, if you need a replacement Out-of-warranty replacement unit:

iPhone 6 Plus: £266.44
iPhone 6: £236.44

Or if you're in the US:
iPhone 6 Plus: $329
iPhone 6: $299

Definitely worth getting AppleCare.

I was recently in the Apple Store and saw a guy bring his iPhone 5 in after having dropped it in a swimming pool!

Needless to say he had Applecare and after paying $79, walked out ten minutes later with a brand new replacement phone.

Definitely something to be said for that...

Get Apple care + it's well worth the cost, any time you buy a high end phone or device getting Double the warranty and accidental damage protection is worth it.

If you can't addord it return your phone and wait until you can

General agreement among people who can do math is that extended warranties are scams. Applecare is no different.
