The answer is a question. Is it worth it to you? It's insurance. As such, Apple would not offer it if it was not profitable for them. However, if you encounter problems, it is certainly cheaper to pay for AppleCare than the full price of repairs or replacement. If that gives you peace of mind, then it's probably worth it for you. If the cost is a hardship, then you have to take solace in the fact that such catastrophic problems are rare.
 
I would say yes. I have found that The Apple and it’s Jobinators, have an extensive database of issues, glitches, bugs, defects, and malfunctions they can walk you through if any technical difficulties arise. Also, I’d imagine, your iPad cost you a pretty penny, it offers peace of mind as the Gregg squared mentioned, should any accidents occur.
