Is it worth it?

I'm going to be purchasing the 13" 2.4 Ghz Macbook Pro

Rule of thumb is: Not worth it for desktops, worth it for laptops.

Laptops have screens and miniaturized components that are more expensive and harder to replace. They also are subject to more abuse from being carried.

The flip side is if you drop your MacBook or spill water on it, you'll void the warranty and render your expensive AppleCare useless. So if you're planning to drop or abuse or lose your machine (or have it stolen) within three years then you may lose the investment in Applecare.

Don't forget that you not only have to buy it within the first 364 days, you also have to Register the Applecare against your serial number with Apple withing the first year.
