Apple's Beats brand today announced the launch of new iPhone 16 cases that have MagSafe and Camera Control support. This is the first time that Beats has designed iPhone cases, with the company typically focusing on headphones.

The new cases come in four colors that match the standard iPhone 16 colors, including Midnight Black, Summit Stone, Riptide Blue and Sunset Purple.

The Beats cases are made from a hard polycarbonate material with flexible sidewalls to optimize shock absorption, along with a soft microfiber lining to keep the iPhone inside safe from scratches. Apple says that the case is thin, light, and easy to grip.

On the outside of the case, there is a glossy, scratch-resistant coating that adds extra protection. The cases are designed to work with the Camera Control button on the iPhone 16 models, and they are designed with a sapphire crystal coupled with a conductive layer that can communicate finger movements to the button.

These are MagSafe-compatible cases with built-in magnets that align with the iPhone 16 models for wireless charging purposes. Apple's latest iPhones can charge at up to 25W using new MagSafe chargers.
"We're delighted to introduce the first iPhone case designed by Beats," said Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of Apple Music and Beats. "Beats has always been synonymous with distinctive style and vibrant colors and our new cases are the perfect way to accessorize the new iPhone 16 lineup."
Priced at $49, the Beats cases for the new iPhone 16 models are available for order starting today from Apple's website.

What an odd use of the brand.

They don't even line up with any Beats earbud colours.

Maybe some future Beats earbuds will have corresponding colours and MagSafe reverse wireless charging. Unlikely, I know!

Look like they are worth about £10 from Amazon. Not £49  miss the leather cases, sure they could make a nice vegan leather version.

These give me Temu or AliExpress vibes, not 50 bucks
lol this was my initial thought when I first saw the picture... Looks like any other generic Aliexpress case that costs $3.49.... These will get copied 1:1 immediately.

Not getting the 16 pro.

But I did get a fine woven case with my 15 pro last year.

Now, I'm not as negative to the fine woven case as some (most?) are, I think it was OK. Not really justifying the cost, though. Too flimsy for that. So I don't mind Apple discontinuing it (if they choose to do that). Now, if this new case is as bad - when it comes to value for money - that's bad...

Anyway, now - after close to a year - I think the fine woven case is due for an upgrade.

Previously I've had the Apple leather cases, and those have always lasted just as long as the phones themselves, so I looked around after a leather case and just last week I ordered a Belemay leather case on Amazon. I don't expect it to be as good as Apple's was, but it hope it lasts one or two years. :)

Let’s see, Beats is an audio company, and these cases don’t add anything audio-related. So this makes… zero sense.
This looks like 100% a branding play. There isn’t even any Beats design, or logo, or tie-in to current headphone colors…

To me this sounds like a way for Apple to offload the plastic stuff onto the Beats brand so they can claim progress towards their carbon neutrality goals.

Apple Discontinues FineWoven Cases, Offers Silicone and Plastic for iPhone 16 Models

These look to be cheaper then the Apple silicon case yet seemingly offers more protection?

Unlike most here I’m quite excited by these. Looks sleek and smooth, it’s also slightly exotic compared to the usual Apple main case line (and looks to me like an interesting use of the Beats brand to try something).

Polycarbonate is not exactly a basic plastic. It’s the same material used back when there was white entry level MacBook (and iBook if you’re that old). It’s quite good but it’s not eco friendly

Let’s see in real world but it’s probably the best value of any ”Apple” case
